This is a delicious dessert to be enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee, simple enough to make in no time and a great crowd pleaser!
Ing:
3 sticks unsalted butter (11/2 cups) room temperature
3 cups soji or semolina
1 cup milk powder
1 cup desiccated coconut
2 to 3 variety of nuts
2 14 oz tins of condensed milk
1 to 3 drops of rose essence
1/2 tsp of vanilla essence
pinch of salt
1 tsp ground cardamom powder
1/2 tsp fresh ground nutmeg
1 tbsp of poppy seeds
crushed pistachios to be used for garnish
Method:
In a nice big pot melt the butter on med heat, make sure not to burn the butter as it will melt fast, next add the soji and cook this for about 5 to 7 minutes or until the color changes to a tan color and the fragrance of the soji comes out really nice. While the semolina or soji is getting cooked keep stirring it and in a 9×13 glass pan use the butter wrappers to coat the pan and keep it aside. After about 7 minutes add the coconut powder and roast this for about 3 to 4 minutes then add the almonds and make sure you stir and combine all the ingredients really well, then add the vanilla, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, rose essence, and the two cans of condensed milk, stir, next add the poppy seeds and wait until all the ingredients are mixed really well and the bars or paak starts leaving the side of the pan. Transfer to the tray and immediately add the pistachio powder and press it down so it sticks, then wait 5 minutes and cut it in your desired pieces!
Makes about 35 pieces depending on how big or small you cut them!
Enjoy!
