Pilaw made of Tuver Lilva/pigeonPeas/Bharazi
1 to 2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion or half of a large onion
2 cups washed and soaked rice
1 16 oz can of pigeon peas rinsed and dried
2 small potatoes cut in bite size pieces
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ginger and garlic
1 tsp turmeric
1 cinnamon stick
8 to 10 black peppercorns
salt to taste
chili powder to taste
1 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup hot water
In a sauce pan add olive oil when a little hot add the cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, peppercorns and ginger and garlic, stir a little than add onions and saute till a little transparent than add the potatoes until fragrant. Add the pigeon peas stir well add salt, stir again and than go ahead an stir in the rice, make sure you stir very well, lastly add the coconut milk and water wait until it boils once than lower the heat and cover for 20 to 22 min. Once the rice is done make sure you use a fork to fluff the rice, garnish with sliced cucumbers and serve
