This is a delicious homemade casserole with a lot of Indian flavor!
Ing:
4 large potatoes sliced and fried
salt and pepper for the potatoes per your taste
2 cups cooked rice
1 bunch spring onions chopped
2 large onions sliced and fried until golden brown
1 lb ground beef
1.5 tbsp fresh garlic puree
1.5 tbsp fresh ginger puree
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
2 tsp garam masala powder
1 tbsp sambal garlic sauce
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion chopped
1 tsp lemon pepper
4 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp nihari masala
1 cup store bought fried onions
2 tbsp kethup (optional)
2 tbsp fresh chopped corriander
Salt to taste
1/3 cup water
Method:
Fry the sliced potatoes and keep it on the side, next fry the onions and keep that on the side as well, lastly make the rice and keep that on the side. In a pot add the ground beef and cook it until it becomes really dry then empty in a different container. In the same pot add the oil and once it heats up add the onions and fry it till it’s golden brown, next add the ginger and garlic, cumin, samba and all the spices, give it a quick mix and the tomato paste, lemon pepper, and salt lastly add the ground beef and stir all the ingredients really well, lastly add the fried store bought onions, the nihary powder, water and the ketchup which is completely optional. Lastly sprinkle with fresh coriander.
Let’s start layering this dish! Start layering a 9 x 13 oven safe dish with half of the sliced potatoes next layer it with half of the rice, adds the spring onions on top of the rice, next layer half of the fried onions on top then add half of the ground beef mixture on top of that, next layer the remaining potato slices, rest of the rice, rest of the chopped coriander, and the rest of the fried onions. This dish is ready to eat, if you would like to warm this dish in the oven preheat oven on 350 and cover the casserole with foil and let it warm up for 25 min.
